An excursion to Lake Uzungel, a knife factory in Surmen and an alpine village (from Batumi to Turkey) – for lovers of mountains and alpine landscapes, where we will visit the village of Santa, which is lost in the alpine meadows in the vicinity of the city of Surmen. This is a picturesque place that combines high mountains, alpine meadows, pine forest and pristine rivers in its landscape. Wild flowers create a real colored carpet on the slopes. In the village of Santa itself, which the Greeks left back in 1921, you can observe the churches that remained there and, built of river stone, low, squat houses in which no one lives now. On the mountain rivers, we will observe several arched bridges built in the 12th – 15th centuries.
Surmene is located on the Black Sea coast of Turkey. And as in all coastal cities, there is a brisk trade … in knives) Steel knives, which were made by the Greeks, and now are made by their descendants, they were famous not only in Turkey, but also abroad.
We will have the opportunity not only to purchase these knives, but also to see the process of their manufacture in a small handicraft production.
